In 20 the Japanese Government built a small operating theater block in the grounds of Prey Kebas Referral Hospital. The building was constructed of brick and cement in the traditional Cambodian French style. But it was not fitted out in the manner that we in the Western world would consider as finished. There was no funding made available for equipment or staff training. Being able to provide this service will certainly be of great benefit to women with obstructed labour who require urgent C sections. SSSP donated a air conditioner for one of the operating theaters and also paid for 6 months introductory OT training of four nurses at the Takeo Provincial Hospital. Dr Nourn Sophat also under took a six month surgical Diploma. Marcel spent an afternoon with the students and Dr Sophat.
